The night the sky went red

#aurora#alberta

That day was just an errand day. I was in Edmonton with my mom and a family friend. We went to Goodwill, did groceries, the usual stuff. Nothing special planned.

I was staying at my parents’ in Evansburg at the time, so we took Highway 16 home. Somewhere past Stony Plain, around 6 in the evening, the sky lit up. Not the usual green. Red, in a big band over the trees. I pulled over and we just stayed there for about an hour taking photos.

I have seen a lot of auroras. This is still one of the prettiest ones I have ever seen.

My dad was not with us that day, which is too bad. But the three of us have caught a few good ones together, so it is fine.

Some days are just days. That one was something.

✳ that's the note.
